This week Daniel Meech Stables traveled to Zwitzerland to attend the prestigious CSI5* Show in Sankt Gallen.  
World's best riders were competing including Swiss favorites Steve Guerdat and Martin Fuchs.  

It was a week with a lot of rain which made the riding conditions challenging, but this could not stop the team to jump into some nice results. Daniel and Ortolaan jumped into a 9th place in the 150cm class. Casalligo jumped a nice clear in the 140cm and 145cm class. In addition he jumped his first 150cm class with only one unlucky fault at the end of the course.  

This year the "Best Grooms 2024" awards sponsored by Beat Mandli were presented st the show. Here the nr 3 award went to the best worker at Daniel Meech Stables, Daniel's wife, Whitney Stinges- Meech.

This week Daniel Meech Stables was present with Ortolaan v/h Ruytinxbos and Cassaligo at the LONGINES Pentecost Tournament Wiesbaden.  The heavy rainfall made the riding conditions  challenging, but it could definitely not stop the amazing ambiance from the show. Jumping in front of the magnificent castle backdrop in the Biebrich Castle Park resulted in a few nice placings for the team:

- Ortolaan 11th 150cm class and 12th 155cm class;
- Casalligo 9th 140cm class.

Results CSI4* Wiesbaden

Born in New Zealand, Daniel spent his formative years learning, training and successfully competing on home soil. At the age of 20 Daniel made the bold move to Europe to further his skill base at the renowned stables of “Stal Hendrix” in Baarlo by being trained  by Dutch European showjumping champion Emile Hendrix.                                                      

After this valuable experience, Daniel started as a rider for the worldwide known Schockemöhle stable owned by entrepeneur and horseman Paul Schockemöhle (PS). Here Daniel honed his skills and became international recognized on the international show circuit amassing some major wins while riding PS owned horses. 

From his time at these stables, Daniel then went out on his own, building upon everything that had taken place before. Daniel had several worldwide riding partnerships with horses and owners which led to many years of success and wins at 5* shows.
Highlights include World Championships, Olympic Games, 1st place in the 5* Kuala Lumpur Championships, 1st place in the 4* Munich Championships and a 12th place  Athens Olympics – (to date the most successful New Zealand showjumping Olympic rider).

Nowadays, Daniel runs a stable of horses located in the south of The Netherlands, where he focuses on his core business – producing and selling horses from young stock right through to established competition horses jumping at the highest level.

- Participating at The 2021 Tokyo Olympics as an individual as well as part of the New Zealand national team.  
- Abu Dhabi 5* Nations Cup win aboard “Fine” 2018

- National showjumping champion of New Zealand 2010;
- Qualified for Beijing Olympic Games 2008 (Unfortunately he could not compete due to injury);
- Winner of the Munich 4* Grand Prix 2008;
- Winner of the Kuala Lumpur Grand Prix 2004, attended by the best 30 riders in the world;
- Ranked 12th in Athens Olympic Games 2004;
- Winner of the Caen 4* Grand Prix 2003;
- Participates at the Atlanta Olympic Games 1996;
- National showjumping champion of New Zealand 1995;
- National “Young riders” showjumping champion  of New Zealand 1994.

03 Casalligo

Daniel Meech Stables has successfully produced, sold and placed horses with new riders globally. Many of these horses have gone on to achieve incredible results, Championships, wins and placings at prestigious events such as the Asian Games, Spruce Meadows, and the Global Champions Tour to name a few.

Daniel has an innate ability to spot potential in a young horse. This extends further in the way that he sympathetically and kindly produces a horse and develops a relationship with the horse that makes it want to give Daniel it’s all. This is evident when watching Daniel on a showjumping course. With a stylish, kind approach and the ability to see a great distance when approaching a fence, watching Daniel on a horse is akin to poetry in motion. 

Daniel takes pride in the fact that nearly every horse he has achieved success with he has sourced and trained himself from a young age, nurtured the horse’s talent and they have gone on to be successful competition horses at top levels.

The line- up for the New Zealand team was announced today and we can proudly share that Daniel again is chosen to represent his country at the Olympic Jumping Qualifier- Group G. 

The top two placed Nations from the qualifier will qualify for the Paris Olympics 2024. 

The competing countries are: NZL, Australia, Japan, China and Chinese Taipai. This event will be hosted at Tops International Arena Valkenswaard on the 18th of July next week.
